Opposites Attract: Black & White Wedding Fashion

filed under: Fashion
Blackwhite_a Belt it Out
A simple grosgrain ribbon instantly adds drama to this effortless Vera Wang halter gown.

Take a Bow
This ABS dress is sure to win over your bridesmaids. The assymetrical knot and ruffle skirt is sophisticated, but not stuffy.

Get Decked
While bold jewelry can be too extreme for the ceremony, it’s the best way to add style to your reception look. Go all out with this resin cuff and faux-pearl necklace, both at Kate Spade this fall.

Be a Pin Up
This Dolce & Gabbana Organza Hairpin is simply enchanting. Black stitching gives the whimsical design some edge.

Lace Up
Why wear white shoes, when these lace-covered Christian Louboutin Peep Toes would look oh-so-striking peeking out from under a crisp white gown.

I'm obviously loving this look, but would you wear black on your wedding day?

Nude Nails: The Latest Trend in Bridal Beauty

filed under: Beauty
Nailpolish2

While experimenting with bright summer shades is always fun, there’s nothing like nude nails to really show off your engagement ring. Of course, we’re not suggesting you boycott the spa all together; there are better ways to look good in the buff.

Pale Comparisons
Go ahead, put our four favorite nude tones to the test. Essie’s Not Just a Pretty Face boasts a bit of pink, Sheer Nude by Rescue Beauty Lounge is our top see-through shade, OPI’s Sand In My Suit has the tiniest hint of shimmer, and Dashind Diva’s Fashion Week has the perfect amount of peach.

Do you have a go-to manicure color?

Honeymoon Must-Have: Frette Beach Towels

filed under: Accessories
Frette2You already know Frette for their luxe linens. Now the brand is taking on honeymoon chic -- by spinning the same super-soft cotton they’re famous for into Frette Mare, a collection of supple terry beach towels. They’re rendered in jewel tones inspired by exotic locales. (One design is taken from tiles found in a Moroccan palace.) These fabulous towels will earn their spot atop your honeymoon must-have list, and their eye-catching patterns are sure to turn heads.

We’d most likely be found wrapped up in the 1960’s inspired Dolce Vita. It’s just as perfect for lounging on a yacht off the Amalfi Coast as it is on the beach in the Hamptons. Just don’t forget the matching oversized sunglasses to completely channel your inner-Jackie-O.

Splurge-Worthy Lingerie: La Perla’s Black Label and Other Pretty Things

filed under: Fashion

Lingerie_650

A month before your wedding is the perfect time to reassess your underwear drawer and splurge on a few special pieces. The classic trousseau of delicate—dare we say, lacy-down-to-there—lingerie will make your groom feel like the luckiest man alive. (The tradition may be as old as time, but the effect never seems to grow stale.) For the honeymoon, you’ll want to stock up on some basics like a classic chemise and lacy push up bra, but also mix in a few racier rompers. We’re obsessed with Agent Provocateur’s Kate Corset from their new bridal collection. But, if white lingerie feels too precious, try a black, sheer number like the La Perla Black Label Lace Collection slip which leaves little to the imagination. To add some Parisian flair, no matter where you are, our pick is the Fleur T Je ne sais Quoi Padded Bra. He may complain at the airport that you over-packed again, but something tells us he’ll take it back later.

Smells Like Bridal Spirit: Neil Morris Custom Fragrances

filed under: Beauty
Neilmorris_signature_bottles

Want a scent that will be totally unique for your wedding day? In a one-on-one consultation at the Neil Morris Fragrances boutique in Boston, you can devise a custom creation. Morris will ask you roughly 25 questions, ranging from your favorite time of day to your favorite childhood memory. Based on the answers, he’ll select some of his 700 oils for you to smell, and together you’ll build the fragrance right on your skin. The 90-minute consultation costs $475 and includes a 2-oz. bottle of parfum, as well as a travel-size spray bottle.

Not in Boston? Don’t fret. Morris also travels the country for bridal showers and engagement parties. For $300 per person, he’ll complete an abridged version of the process in a bridal shower “game” your guests will love. After all, a bridal shower by any other name but Neil Morris wouldn’t smell nearly as sweet.

Twinkle Toes (er, Heels): The Latest Trend in Bridal Shoes

filed under: Accessories
Shoes

You wouldn’t want to pair your spectacular wedding dress with shoes that fall flat, would you? That’s why so many top-name designers are now bejeweling the heels of their fancy footwork:

Buckle Up
Sparkling crystals embellish the stainless-steel heels of these Martinez Valero Bess sandals for a subtle yet mesmerizing effect. Available in black or white satin, the sandals are finished with a rhinestone buckle at the adjustable ankle strap.

Princess Bride
Go for the gold with these Miu Miu heels, elegant in the front and regal in the back. The gold metallic leather T-strap invokes a classic sophistication, while the gold-tone hardware on the crystal heels resembles a majestic crown.

Dark Angel
You may want to eschew traditional white (and even traditional light) once you see Stuart Weitzman’s peepers pumps. Instead, flash a pop of bold purple. These sculpted four-inch heels are encrusted with zigzagged crystals, and we love the sexy pleated toe.
